Livorno is a port city on the Ligurian Sea on the western coast of Tuscany Region.
The city stretches along the coast for about 8 km.
With the Local Strategic Plan of 1999, the city has become polycentric.
In addition to the old town centre, there is "Porta a Terra"on the North (mainly commercial and tertiary centre), "Porta a Mare" (former shipyard, adjacent to the center,has became a commercial and residential area), "Nuovo Centro" on the East (residential and commercial area) and finally the port area includes small and medium industries.

Status of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan

Livorno has joined the Covenant of Mayors and currently It is preparing the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP). Finally, the city of Livorno has joined the training course of the European Project BUMP (Boosting Urban Mobility Plans).
