The city of Grosseto, the provincial capital, was founded as an extension of the old town, surrounded completely by the Medici walls and extends in an almost flat land with its network of urban roads. Grosseto can be easily reached through the Via Aurelia along the north-south axis and the Senese street (the street that connects Fano to Grosseto) from the east and it is well connected to the sea by three provincial roads. Grosseto is also crossed by the Tirrenic railway and it is connected with the internal area of Toscany Region through the railway line in the direction of Siena.

Status of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan

The city of Grosseto adopted since 1989 the P.U.T.  which has been updated several times and is currently being analyzed for final adoption. The P.U.T. of Grosseto has as primary objective the establishment of a sustainable mobility in terms of environmental safety for better management of transport traffic.
