Kaunas is the second biggest city in Lithuania and has a rich history, beautiful landscape and strong industrial sector. Located on the confluence of the two biggest rivers in Lithuania, the Nemunas and the Neris, Kaunas has a strategic role from both the military and trade perspectives.

Kaunas is situated in the geographical centre of Lithuania and in developing its transport infrastructure it definitely takes the advantage of being in a supreme position, with the Motorway A6 (which runs from Warsaw to Saint Petersburg), and Motorway A1 (which connects Klaipeda Seaport and Vilnius and then further towards Minsk, Kiev, and Moscow) both running through or near to Kaunas.
